Open Question: Anyone have good directions on how to build a go kart?

I'm a Mom and would adore to find a way to build a go kart with my 11 year old son. every the directions I've seen seem complicated. Does anyone know of any that aren't that tough? Like I'd like to use premade things like maybe conduit with connenctors or something similar as that's probably not that strong. I can't weld a frame, but if I had a way to use connectors...maybe some type of plumbing supplies would be stronger. Also, premade wheels like they sell at walmart for trailers. Does anyone know of a site that gives you information to make a good roll bar cage type go kart that uses cheapest premade things? Like you could use a harbor freight engine...what clutch, peddles and cable would you use and where is the cheapest place to receive them?

Open Question: Does anyone know of a local freight company in Houston where Owner Operators can make $1500+ weekly?

It seems to depend on the dispatcher and if he is fair and honest with the way he divides the runs amongst the drivers. If he gives every the higher paying runs to some and gives lower paying runs to others its not fair at every and it sucks. If anyone knows of a company that divides the runs evenly giving every drivers who want to make more income please forward the info to me. The person I know would adore to make as much as possible. He will do local as well as out of state runs. Thanks

Open Question: Have I finally asked the right question?

... to find the formula for scaling weight. If I knew math better I'd be more likely to even pose the question I model railroad operations in HO scale, 1/87:1. For example, 1 inch = 7,25 scale feet. A prototype freight car of 45 feet scales down to very close 6.25 inches in length. We have successfully replicated scale length. The same car prototype weighs 80 tons. Scaling down, how much would the model have to weigh to be in scale? I'm thinking a 200 ton locomotive scale model may weigh a ton or two, even at 6.25 inches long...

Open Question: Did not take chemistry in high school?

I'll be starting university soon as a BBA student in the Chartered Accountancy stream, but wondering if it is still right for me. In high school, every the chemistry courses were full and I was forced to pick a different course. This affected my career options as almost every of my science opportunities were gone. I did receive acceptances to science programs, but thought long and difficult if I should accept them. My problem was that I didn't take chemistry or biology, but I did take physics and earth studies which are the two other sciences that got me my admission into the science programs. I was worried about my success if I were to pick any of the science programs as everyone in my class will have some knowledge of chemistry except for me. I'm concerned about the path that I am heading right now as I know business is an extremely risky path to take and saw only the Chartered Accountancy field as the most successful career out of the business field. Do you think that I was over thinking too much about the science programs, or did I make the right decision in choosing the CA path? I look CA as a rewarding career, but I'm mainly concerned about the job security as my parents are currently laid off. I don't ever want to be in that situation; it's not only stressful, but freighting as well.

i want to be a performer. i have the talent and the skill, but i just receive really nervous and self conscious. and when i try to be confident i end up making a mistake out of nervousness. i play piano and sing. I'm playing a concert at Carnegie hall in less then 4 months, and i need to be mentally prepared. how can i do that ? well, i went in for a job interview today and it is between me and this other girl who has been in my class since i can remember. Here are our "descriptions". I'm leaving out names of who is who so your not biased :) the job is for a grocery store. this specific job would be doing boxes/freight as well as going around the store and being assigned an "aisle" to stock and clean up. Some of the boxes are around 50 pounds so its heavy work...its also a job that requires a "perfectionist" and patient attitude because it can receive boring putting away little things like floss. Girl #1 - very professional, silent and nice of shy, dressed super professionally and nice for the interview, very tiny (only 100 pounds), about 5 ft tall, does no sports or extra curricular activites. Girl #2 - very friendly and outgoing, dressed good for the interview but not as professional as girl #1, bigger (about 170 pounds of muscle), around 5'9 tall, does track and field. i look pros and cons to both of us. girl 1 is more professional and she would restrain from talking to others, but she is also very tiny and would have issues doing the heavy work considering some of the boxes are half her weight. girl 2 is very friendly which is good for customers and her size would help the heavy work since shes muscular, but she does track and field which would probably take her out of work. both girls are major perfectionist, would stay on task and are mostly self motivated. which would you pick to hire?

Voting Question: Question about CA labor laws?

Is it legal for a company to not provide water bottles? i.e., someone is throwing freight from a truck, and they are not getting water bottles. There are water fountians but the workers can't leave every the time to receive a drink from the fountian. p.s if you could provide a section code (for documentation) for this law that would be wicked chilly. Calderon's administration promised to increase security in the area after a series of explosive devices were detonated in the Tamaulipas capital: Reynosa, across the border from McAllen, Texas. The Interior Department said it "energetically condemned" the explosions in Reynosa, but did not confirm local media reports that the explosions were caused by three hand grenades and that they had wounded roughly a dozen people. The department confirmed there were some victims, and offered to help them. The Reynosa city government said on its Twitter site that "an explosive device" detonated downtown close the La Quebradita bar on Saturday, and advised residents to stay out of the area. Cross-border traffic was not affected. The slaughter of the migrants was discovered last Tuesday in San Fernando, a town close Reynosa. The Central and South Americans were apparently killed after they refused to work for the gang. Drug gangs have branched out into human trafficking for extortion and to recruit members. Thirty-five had been identified by Sunday: 16 Hondurans, 13 Salvadorans, five Guatemalans and a Brazilian. Documents belonging to another Brazilian man were found at the scene of the killings, but his body has not been identified. The lone survivor, an Ecuadorean, escaped and reported the slaughter to the Mexican military. Diplomats from the victims' home countries have traveled to Tamaulipas to receive firsthand reports on the identification efforts. Most of those identified so far carried documents. But bodies found without documents gift a much bigger challenge. Guatemala offered to send a plane to pick up five victims identified so far from that country. Families of three said they received telephone calls earlier in the month demanding $2,000 for their relatives' release. Guatemala's foreign ministry said it was still trying to contact families of the other two dead. Migrants hopping freight trains through Mexico to receive to the United States are often subjected to kidnappings, beatings and extortion along the way. A group of them protested Saturday in the railroad town of Arriaga in southern Chiapas state, where many migrants cross the border from Guatemala. The Rev. Hayman Vazquez, a Roman Catholic priest who runs the Casa del Migrante shelter in Arriaga, said about 120 people marched along the railroad tracks to the city hall with banners reading "Please respect us," and "The kidnapping of migrants in Mexico is a humanitarian tragedy." Vazquez said undocumented migrants continued to arrive at the shelter this week. Even when told of the massacre, most said they would still try to reach the U.S. because there are no opportunities in their home countries, he said. Salvadoran President Mauricio Funes said Saturday he wants to meet with Mexico's Calderon to coordinate efforts to combat drug violence. More than 28,000 Mexicans have been killed in drug-related violence since Calderon launched an offensive against the cartels in tardy 2006. what is a conductor to do if they look someone making graffiti or hooliganizing on commuter tracks... not freight lines, to my knowledge freight conductors are pretty chilly, they just do their job, and dont give a fuck. but what do passenger train conductors do (like metro north). do they call the metro cops? i mean like its not in anyway affecting their job if they neglect to say anything ... right? any conductors out there have a answer?

Resolved Question: Can you tell if a computer part was used before?

I brought a brand new processor on ebay but it had a scratch. I think it may have been used. I called the manufacture and they told me the part was made a couple years ago. So I told the seller this, he told me that he handles misplaced freight. This was from an order no one picked up. But gurantted me it was new it had been tested but that was it. He said it had been sitting in the feight for a year. Do you think it was new? Is there any way I can check to look if a computer part is new? Such as use the serial number?

Hello, I'm going to look at a used pontoon this eveing with a 1988 Mercury 70 hp outboard engine. My question is how do I check it's compression and what is classified as good? I wanted to be able to do this on my possess so I just ran out to Harbor Freight (I know) and purchased their engine compression tester item http://www.harborfreight.com/quick-connect-compression-tester-95187.html Will this have the correct adapter? I'm assuming I leave one spark plug in and tug the other, plug this tester in, turn the key, receive my read and move on to the other? PS - The engine will be tested icy. I mean remove the spark plugs.

Voting Question: How do I get Conservatives to support "redistribution of wealth?"?

Rich people have more money than needy people. Everyone should be equal if every men are created equal and by men we mean women and men. The problem is wealthy corporate people believe in this simplistic notion that people who have wealth should be able to keep it and have an antipathy towards redistributing wealth. The effect is we have poverty, crime, people begging for change starving to death and welfare isn't enough to help them. I recommend a more active Govt Redistribution of Wealth from wealthy to needy. Think of it like this, you have a freight train on a track.....and the train is using "productive forces" to receive to point B.....however, the Government is simply creating an alternate track that the train can move to instead of the straight one.... so people would be working their productive forces, but the magnitude of that productivity can be redistributed onto others....and the productive forces still in tact, creating a productive workers paradise and utopia where the work supports everybody.

Resolved Question: I have a rusty utility trailer; Getting Lights Ground Fault?

I have a cheap Harbor Freight Utility trailer which has begun to receive rusty. The lights quit working and I pulled out the multimeter to troubleshoot. Everything is working, I'm getting ground signal at the bolt the ground is connected too. I used a guide extension and if I check power at the lights and ground at the grounding bolt, I receive voltage. However, I cannot receive the ground to propagate across the trailer, probably because of the rusty frame. What are my options?

Open Question: Why did Jerry Brown drive the Aerospace Industry out of California the last time he was governor?

Was it his inability to effectively negotiate with the government employee labor unions, CalPERS and CalSTRS? Their windfalls were placed on the backs of aerospace in the form of enormous taxes? Who's paying the freight for CalPERS and CalSTRS now? Oh, that's right... Unfunded liabilities. Do we really want Jerry Brown back so he can be out-negotiated again by CalPERS and CalSTRS. Do we really want Jerry Brown in office paying for his inability to negotiate by walloping our remaining industries with mega-taxes? CalPERS and CalSTRS are retirement systems for government employees and teachers respectively.
